The Death of the Carnival Submit Form
I have to take down the Carnival Submit Form. The http://www.blogcarnival.com web site is far more powerful than anything I could do in my spare time, so there's not the need that we used to have. More seriously, spam abuse from our form is so large that I am risking permanent damage to the credibility of my web server.
The problem is that it uses a standard script which is vulnerable to exploitation by spammers. It would take days of research and testing to fix the problem, because I have to come up with a complete replacement for the aforementioned standard script.
So, perhaps when I get a few weeks of vacation in the future I can come up with something better and safer. In the meantime, it has to come down.

Carnival of Real Estate, Unschooling Voices
We have two new entries on the Carnival Submit Form.
The Carnival of Real Estate is looking for posts on real estate and the real estate industry. Submissions must be original content, not simply lists of links, and are due on Sunday at 3pm ET.
Unschooling Voices is a carnival for un-schoolers, whether well-seasoned or just starting out. Their first edition is here, and submissions are due at the end of the month.

Roundhouse Roundup
The Roundhouse Roundup has been added to the Carnival Submit Form. In the words of the carnival organizer:
The Roundup is looking for blog posts regarding any size model trains and the boys (any age!) who love them. Blog posts should be family- and work-safe. I, and any future hosts, reserve the right to reject posts that aren't about trains or that include inappropriate material. Yes, this is a judgement call.
Submissions are due every Last Monday of the month at midnight, and guidelines can be found here.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

Big Rocks, Stupid People
We have a nice contrast in new carnivals today. One is about personal growth, and the other is about personal stupidity.
First we have the BIG ROCKS Roundup.
Welcome to the BIG ROCKS Roundup! This is a carnival to showcase the best content from bloggers and other online sources relating to personal growth and human evolution. This is a forum to post and read the best and most intriguing insights on what it means to be human and what we are to do with this information. If you have a post that explores the nature of reality, origins of the universe, spirituality, psychological issues, values, beliefs, modern society or anything else you think might be relevant to someone concurrently seeking self-awareness and purpose, PLEASE SUBMIT IT! Self-awareness and the search for meaning are to this century what greed and narcissism were to the last. BIG ROCKS is a medium for this passage.
Submissions are due every alt. Sundays, 9am ET, and guidelines can be found here.
The Carnival Of Stupid People is looking for stories about the other end of the human scale.
We’ve all come across stupid people. They’re everywhere. I even devoted an entire category to the subject. The purpose of this carnival is for entertainment. The humor of humanity. Humor. Hate will not be tolerated. Think of it in this manner (thanks to Bill Engvall) have you ever wanted to say, “Here’s Your Sign?” If so, this carnival is for you. I would prefer an actual post in your blog, posted no longer than a week beforehand-- however since this is new I will accept older posts-- just make sure you provide the correct link to the actual post.
The Stupid People Carnival has two editions per week, so submissions are due at 9pm on Tuesday OR Thursday. Guidelines can be found here.

Lots of New Carnivals
The Cavalcade of Risk is dedicated to helping folks understand what risk is, and how to manage it. It's about business and finance, of course, but it's also about risks in our everyday lives and personal relationships. Submissions are due every other Monday, and guidelines can be found here.
The Carnival of Family Life is also new. Everybody likes to talk about their family, especially if you have kids. Here's a place where you can sit down, have a cup of coffee and share your thoughts, stories and experiences. It can be informative, funny or inspiring. It's up to you. Stop by and check it out! Submissions are due every Sunday, midnight (hawaii time), and guidelines can be found here.
The Personal Development Carnival is for original blog articles which cover any area of personal development: health, finances, spirituality, career... anything which provides information on how the reader can create a better life.. Submissions are due every Friday, 11pm PT, and guidelines can be found here.
The Persecution Blog Carnival is sponsored by the Persecution Blog in partnership with The Voice of the Martyrs, and is dedicated to showcasing articles about Christian persecution around the world. Submissions are due every 9 pm ET for a weekly carnival on Fridays, and guidelines can be found here.
The Carnival of Nonprofit Consultants is looking for posts that contain advice, tips, or resources for the nonprofit community No sales pitches! Submissions are due every Fridays, 8 pm ET, and guidelines can be found here.
The Garden Fest is for anything gardening related. Submissions are due every 15th of the month, and guidelines can be found here.
The Carnival of Career Intensity is a little different. According to the organizer, Dave Lorenzo:
Each week I’ll pick five posts I think best demonstrate Career Intensity from the submissions I receive. I am looking for posts that add value to careers of my readers. Preference will be given to posts that are funny and in some way stroke my ego. I am aware that this criterion is totally subjective and unfair. Please don’t e-mail me to complain. Complaints will only serve to make me angry – which will decrease your chances of winning.
The carnival opens on Saturday at 9 AM (Eastern Time) with Post Number Five that week. Post Number Four goes up at 11AM. Post Number Three goes up at 1PM. Post number Two goes up at 3PM. And the big winner for that week goes up at 5PM. I will run each post in its entirety and provide a link to the contributing blog.
Submissions are due every Thursday at 5PM ET, and guidelines can be found here.
The The Carnival of Art is centered around the visual arts. Creating art, writing about art, art news, art philosophy and the art world in general. Submissions should be well written with no spelling mistakes and fall into one of the categories Creating Art, Art History, Art Philosophy, The Biz, or Art News. Mediocre Media Carnival.
Mediocre Media has been added to the Carnival Submit Form. It is hosted by Centrerion, and posts to this carnival can include topics such as media bias, poor reporting, ignorance, and all the "you goofed" type of stuff the editors of "letters to the editor" don't print. No More Bonfire, but Kid Comedy, Banned Blogs, and Maritime Monday are On Their Way
The Bonfire of the Vanities is no more. This was one of the most popular carnivals, but an inability to get volunteer hosts made it prohibitive to continue. It will be missed.
On the plus side of the ledger, however, we have three new carnivals on our Carnival Submit Form.
The Kid Comedy Carnival is looking for submissions that are kid related. They need not be your own kids, but the submissions must be funny, family friendly, g-rated, and compatible with a Christian lifestyle. (Don't worry, Christians have TV and caffeine too.) Submissions are due every Friday, 11:59PM CST , and guidelines can be found here.
The Carnival of the Banned Blogs will be held on April 15, 2006. The Carnival seeks any post on censorship, blogger's rights, or freedom of the press. In addition, anyone who blogs from a service banned in any country is eligible to submit a post. If you blog on blogger.com, wordpress.com, blogspot.com, egoweblog.com, blogspirit.com, blogeasy.com, blogzor.com, mazeme.com, yesblogger.com, tblog.com, or joeuser.com, then you're banned in most parts of China and probably elsewhere. The carnival will be held quarterly, and guidelines can be found here.
The Maritime Monday Carnival is a weekly Carnival covering the Commercial Maritime world and related. Looking at the Dubai Port hysteria, there is a severe lack of understanding about the Maritime Industry. So this is your chance to spread the word about what it's all about. Submissions are due every Sunday, 10PM ET, and guidelines can be found here.

New Carnivals
Three new carnivals piled up while Bruce was sleeping.
- The Vicarious Videos Carnival is looking for videos of a fairly specific sort. The videos submitted must be actual videos.
