Notes from Ferdy - Iraq the Model One Year Later
Iraq the Model is the award-winning blog from inside Iraq. In their most recent post they talk about how different American politics is from what they thought it would be.
It was really confusing to me in the beginning that liberals would not support the change in Iraq (remember we were isolated so we didn't know much about that) even though they were against Bush, as it's over now and any humanist should (in my mind) support democracy and peace in Iraq. Besides, I've always considered myself a liberal! On the other side, I had a bad impression that many of the people on the right were fanatics and racist! How much did we learn in this year!
In Ann Coulter's book Slander, (which Bruce is always quoting) she explains the reason liberals ended up on the wrong side in the War on Terror. It's in the section where she describes the aftermath of the September 11th attack.
Liberals finally had a chance to wage war on religious fundamentalism. They just couldn't bring themselves to do it because it would put them on the same side as the United States.
Respectfully submitted,
