Adventures with Bruce - The Interloper: A Progress Report
Last Tuesday, the girl who feeds me brought a new cat home from the animal hospital-- The Interloper. The Interloper is a female orange tabby longhair who needed a new home because her previous owner had developed a cat allergy.
I know all the cat lovers want to see a picture, so I had Bruce take a photo of The Interloper in her favorite hiding place inside the music room coffee table. She's behind the plywood support board in the foreground.
Very slowly, however, she is getting over her shyness and venturing out into the open. This means that when I enter a room there's always a possibility I will find myself in the trajectory of a blurry shape full of sharp bits. I've gotten in the habit of entering rooms in a gingerly, tentative way, and Bruce has been giving me a lot of grief about it which I do not appreciate at all.
However: I believe very strongly in the idea of hoping for the best and allowing things to improve. Therefore I am allowing The Interloper to stay and giving her every opportunity to peacefully integrate herself into our family. I can do this hope thing because she knows that I can beat the crap out of her whenever I want.
Sometimes that's the only way you can keep the peace.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat
