The Cat's Meow - 03/29/05: Suggestions
People don't always mean it when they ask for suggestions.
Today's epigram was inspired by an incident at Bruce's church. Like many mainstream churches, it has suffered a steady loss of members and donations, so the pastor asked the congregation for any suggestions that could make the Sunday service more attractive to newcomers. Bruce immediately piped up that they should have fewer hymns, because "all that standing up and sitting down makes it hard to sleep."
Anyway, the point is, the fact that somebody is asking for suggestions doesn't always mean they necessarily want them.
Respectfully submitted,
