Eternal Questions - 03/31/05: Judgment

by Ferdinand T Cat
If Christianity is not supposed to be judgmental, then what purpose does it serve?

Ferdy, you spelled "judgement" wrong.

It's "JUDGMENT."

:-D

I've changed the entry. Unfortunately, Merriam-Webster's online dictionary lists both spellings, so I can't use this as an excuse to dock Bruce's pay for letting a mistake slip through.

Aw! Hey, I thought misspelling "judgment" was a nice touch! M-W uses both spellings?!?!?!?!? Shaaaame on them!

P.S. True compassionate conservatism for keeping Bruce on the payroll...

Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, "judgement" was not reluctantly added to Webster's dictionary because of common misuse. Along with being the more standard form in England, "judgement" is a far more reasonable spelling. Think about it; the G has to soft, and a suffix beginning with a consonant is being added to the word "judge," meaning the mute E should be kept. I'm not saying that everyone should spell as I do, but you who prefer "judgment" should not try to convert every speller of "judgement" like me to your side.

Have you ever thought of taking a look at H.W. Fowler's Dictionary of Modern English Usage?

Ack! I think you are taking us too seriously!

This is a humor-oriented site, and we were just having a little fun with each other. Except for the one incident last week, it's been months since Rebecca killed someone for using the "e" in "judgement".
