Confused Americans for Truth - Daisy and Tom on Terry

by Ferdinand T Cat

Daisy Cutter has a nice article on Tom Sowell's latest column on the Terry Schiavo case.

It amazes me sometimes that only a month ago we were bemoaning the media silence on this topic.

I must admit that I have mixed feelings about the fact that Congress has intervened. It is scary to think that a popular groundswell of opinion can get the Federal government to interfere in a private matter. Cats are naturally biased for the individual against the mob. I an honestly distressed at the fact the Republicans chose to act in the way they did.

But I think I understand why they did it. The issue here is whether or not Terri still qualifies as a human being. That humanity is the very thin line that separates murder from euthanasia.

So, I'm upset that Congress got involved, but I really do wish they'd let that poor woman live.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

Ferdinand,

Understand where you're coming from ... but at least we conservatives understand the concepts you are raising.

We wouldn't let a convicted murderer, or even a CAT ... die this way. Not in America.

I'm upset that Congress HAD to get involved. The legal beagles on the cable news shows can wring their hands all they want over the minutiae, the drama, the precedent, etc., but in the long view (Do cats have a long view?), Congress acted within the bounds of the Constitution (by using its explicit power to determine the jurisdiction of the federal courts) to stop something that its members (our representatives)find as wrong fundamentally.
