Web Site News - Hard Drive Horrors

by Bruce the Human Pet

Earlier today my laptop hard drive crashed, which has kind of put a damper on my ability to use the Internet, among other things. Fortunately, I run a nightly backup of my critical files. Unfortunately, it's performed by an experimental software application and some of the files won't restore. I'm hoping this is a version problem. More than that, I'm hoping that some day I will look back upon this incident and laugh.

In the meantime, Ferdy's suggestion that I just "press the power switch harder" is not helping.

My sympathies. Just so you know I find throwing things against the wall does not help either.

my first visit to the site and I'm loving it!

When it comes down to conservative, handsome and smart, I thought Ann Coulter was way up there.

I see know I was wrong.

BTW, your pet Bruce has the same beard as novelist Terry Pratchett.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you won't. Ever. Trust me on this.

Bruce is sending the drive to Gillware. Based on his reading of their web site, there's a good chance they can get the data back. I'm feeling much better. Though fully half his password files were unrecoverable, the ones I use all restored just fine. Apparently the gods of data storage are cat-lovers.

We're going to be crippled for at least a week, however, because his backup computer is in the basement, which is The Interloper's territory.

Sorry to hear about your laptop problems. Perhaps this is a vast left wing conspiracy-- I was in the middle of making numerous quizzes and documents for my kids' school books, and >POP< the power went out... all night.

Alack.

Anyway, I say it is all Hillary's fault.

If it helps, I could handle negotiations for you. By the way, the Kick The TV method has helped me out of situations like this.

My hard-drive crashed last Wednesday. I lost all of my essays, all of my songs and pics.

I wish I had backed up.

What is a flu, when a man's hard-drive can grow ill and die!
