Adventures with Bruce - Labels

by Ferdinand T Cat

These days, we are constantly assaulted by warning labels. I'm sure many of you believe we've gone over-the-top silly with the things. (For example, one of the warnings on Bruce's bottle of sleeping pills claims that it "may cause drowsiness".) Yet, often the labels are insufficient.

For example, if you examine the Interloper (shown at left), you will note that there is no sign saying "vicious evil monster beast from hell", which would have been nice to know before she moved in.

Bruce feels very strongly about the label issue. In particular, spray cans containing personal defense products should not have cheesy stick-on labels that can come off. Bruce feels this way because of an incident in which one of his children brought in an unmarked canister she had found in the yard and asked Bruce to identify it. His recollection of the details is a bit blurry, but the last thing he remembers is peering at the remnants of the missing sticker in search of a clue while his daughter said "some sort of spray comes out when you press this button".

Anyway, apparently Bruce is allergic to pepper spray. But the important thing is, the name of the product should have been etched directly into the can instead of stuck on with a cheap sticky label. That could have prevented the whole thing from happening in the first place.

A few days ago Meryl Yourish asked if I had gotten over the Dandylion flashbacks I was getting' every time I saw a picture of Tig. I'm here to say unequivocally yes and no. No more serious flashbacks, but lots of nightmares about this. [Read More]

Yeah this issue gets to me in the worst way...no good labels on pepper spray, but we have labels on shampoo that cannot come off and tell us to wet hair before using...silly!

Yep, the labels will drive you batty...I have 'reglan' from the pharmacy for my (I'll whisper it, Ferdinand) d-g & it also says 'may cause drowsiness', but my d-g can't read & doesn't know she may fall asleep in the middle of a bark.
But...how about the caps on these bottles...can ya' even get 'em off???
