The Cat's Meow - 05/10/05: Celebrity
With enough training and experience, a conservative can be just as arrogant as a liberal.
Sunday was a bad day for Town Hall's stable of conservative columnists. First, Brent Bozell and Diana West took aim at Laura Bush's performance at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Then there was this article from conservative columnist John Leo, which contained the following quote.
Without gatekeepers, no one stands ready to verify reports as accurate so there is no difference between real news and agreed-upon gossip or low-level fluff. Issues debated today—- are bloggers real journalists?, for instance, or is there a clear line between news and entertainment?—- would be irrelevant.
To top it off, it seems like every third page has an ad for The Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy, a tell-all book about the unstoppable money machine that fuels the Left.
My fellow wingnuts, our pundits are lost in the fog and we must bring them back into the light. It is time to remind them of these self-evident truths:
- The point is not that people shouldn't trust bloggers, it's that they can't trust journalists.
- While it is true that the Left spent billions of dollars to destroy George W. Bush, these are the same people who spent billions of dollars to destroy poverty, and both efforts had exactly the same success rate.
- If God had meant for mankind to take itself seriously, he would never have invented sex.
Respectfully submitted,
