Confused Americans for Truth - The Newsweek Mess

by Ferdinand T Cat

By now, almost everybody is aware that Newsweek magazine ran a false story about prisoner abuse that sparked riots in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is highly likely that Newsweek will conduct an investigation of the incident. The investigation will conclude that no political bias was involved and the root cause was intense competitive pressure from other news organizations.

Many of you know that since Bruce edits all my articles, Conservative Cat is a legitimate journalistic enterprise. Therefore, I feel a personal bond with the people at Newsweek, and I would like to help them out.

The web page at http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4925877/ contains information on how to contact Newsweek. Show your support by sending this message.

Dear Editor

I think it's very sad that the continuous pressure of competition from new media caused Newsweek to print an erroneous story about prisoner abuse at Guantanamo Bay. I want to assure you that this incident has not in any way lowered my opinion of your magazine. I do understand you are feeling the pressure from all these blogs and 24-hour news services, but it's more important to get the news right than to get it out first, and I think over time, people are going to figure out who they should trust.

Don't thank me. It's enough that I know how you must feel.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
