Notes from Ferdy - Update on the Newsweek Thing

by Ferdinand T Cat

Wizbang has a nicely distilled review of Matt Drudge's update on the whole Newsweek / Koran Desecration controversy. Author Kevin Aylward lists 5 major points in the article and wonders which are true. I am afraid, however, that I am responsible for the rumor voted least likely to be factual:

A Newsweek executive claims an emotional Isikoff offered to resign from the magazine over the weekend, in a gesture to cool off the international situation.

What really happened is that I offered to take the fall and resign in Isikoff's place (in exchange for a nice severance package, of course). The Newsweek people refused the deal (unfortunately for them), but apparently some of the story got leaked to Drudge, and he jumped to an incorrect conclusion.

I just thought I should set the record straight.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
