Confused Americans for Truth - The Dick Durbin Thing

by Ferdinand T Cat

The outrage over Senator Dick Durbin's comments, and the outrage over the outrage, and the outrage over the outrage over the outrage are blazing all over the blogosphere. As a resident of the state that elected Dick Durbin, I feel I should comment.

First, to a certain extent this whole thing has blown out of proportion. Technically, if you focus on just the words he used, Sen. Durbin did not compare American soldiers to Nazis. He just accused the United States of doing things that sound Nazi-like.

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that Durbin probably meant people to think he was comparing the Bush Administration to Hilter and Pol Pot, but avoided actually saying it straight out so he could claim he was misquoted if all heck broke loose.

Fortunately, Bruce works for a research group that has been developing algorithms to determine the true meaning of long sequences of incomprehensible data. These algorithms were originally designed to make sense out of DNA sequences and protein subsystems, but the basic technique could be applied to sound waves. The algorithms aren't perfect, so you'll hear a lot of noise and distortion in the result. Nonetheless, I believe Bruce's program was able to distill the original meaning and intent behind Durbin's speech. Click here for the audio.

You may think that I'm making this stuff up, but I guarantee you that if you strap Senator Durbin into a lie detector and ask him if the words in the audio clip are true or false, it would be TRUE all the way.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

What a surprise, people don't like being compared to Nazis.

I'm sure Durbin didn't realize that.
