Undo the Damage! - Assault Religion

Hi! I'm Tallulah, the Liberal Commentator for this web site. Today I want to talk about religion.

Religion has become a real problem. Everybody knows that Bush won the last election because all the wacko religious types voted for him. Now, it looks like the next Supreme Court justice will be a practicing Catholic religiously opposed to abortion!

It seems to me that liberalism would fare much better if we started outlawing religion. Sure, the ACLU has put a great deal of effort into stamping out public displays of Christianity, but it's not enough.

Most liberals are afraid to make religion illegal because the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion. The thing is, the Constitution also guarantees the right to bear arms, and we have lots of gun control laws. Every so often, a gun-control group takes a set of guns, gives them a scary name like "Saturday Night Specials" or "Assault Weapons", and gets Congress to pass a law banning them. We can do the same thing with religion!

I propose we classify any religion that prohibits homosexuality to be an "assault religion". Then we can make it illegal for anybody who belongs to an Assault Religion to hold government office. People would still have freedom of religion, but they'd be discouraged from the bad religions that are particularly appealing to Republicans.

A lot of you are probably thinking an Assault Religion ban has no chance of getting passed by a Republican-controlled legislature. But if we can get all of the Democrat Senators on board, we can threaten to filibuster further funding of the War in Iraq or Homeland Security unless the Republicans agree to give us the Assault Religion Ban.

So call your Senator today and get him or her going on the Assault Religion Ban. Remember, it's too late to change the results of the election but it's never too late to Undo the Damage!

I think this is a very humorous point of view based in quite a bit of truth. The Democrats are not playing their cards right mainly because they want to control too much of one's existance. This philosophy may work in Canada, Great Britain, Germany or France, but that does not work in the United States. People here don't want Universal Health Care because it costs too much in taxes, we don't want gun control (even though I do) because we just want that option, and we like a person who is willing to make the tough decision for war because we'd rather have John Wayne than John Lennon. This is American culture (yes, we have a culture), and if you don't like it that's okay--hey, we don't like other countries just as much as you don't like us!! Life is good.
