The Human Element - Of Movies and History

by Peg-Eye Nate

The Girl Who Feeds Ferdy recently rented Around the World in 80 Days staring Jackie Chan. As I watched it, I couldn't help but think that I had seen the story before somewhere. Bruce tells me that the movie doesn't adhere to the original book by Jules Verne, and I am inclined to take his word on that, so where did they get the plot? I felt that the key rested with the main villian (Lord Kelvin, played by Jim Broadbent), but the clincher came with two of his lines: "We don't have to prove anything," and "Don't you know who I am!?"

Then it hit me!

It's the story of Dan Rather and the Bloggers!

Some liberties have been taken with the details of the story, but I understand that this is normal for Hollywood.
