Notes from Ferdy - Sandra Day O'Connor Resigns

by Ferdinand T Cat

As we all know, the agreement by the Gang of Fourteen has changed the rules for nominating judges. Previously, judicial nominations were vetted by the Senate Judiciary Committee. This gave the majority party an unfair advantage, although as far as I can tell, it's only been unfair since the Republicans took over.

Anyway, the new rule is that the Gang of Fourteen decides who should be nominated. Given the importance of the Supreme Court, this will be a big test of the Gang's resolve. The Republicans in the gang will want to nominate a moderate from a politically correct ethnic group. The Democrats will be tempted to hold all appointments until Hillary takes the White House. Unless, given that she IS a lawyer, they decide that what they really want is to nominate...

No. They wouldn't. I don't even want to THINK about it.

Submitted with more than a little trepidation,

Ferdinand T. Cat

Here's another suggestion I found via Instapundit. Bush should nominate Ann Coulter. I take it she's more qualified than some who've sat in those seats: http://gullyborg.typepad.com/weblog_archive/2005/07/replacing_sandr.html
