Confused Americans for Truth - Cindy Sheehan and the Real Good Feeling

by Ferdinand T Cat

There's an awful lot of Cindy Sheehan talk going on. Carnival of the Clueless has no less than eight articles analyzing what's wrong with Cindy's thinking. Nickie Goomba points out that Cindy's opinions seem a bit shifty, and Texican Tattler's on-site report indicates this is no spontaneous escapade by a grieving mother, but a professional protest.

But the most damning blow to her credibility is that she's started writing for the Huffington Post.

Cindy's latest epistle is called Hypocrites and Liars. The following quote sums up what she wants you to believe about the events in Crawford.

This is what the Camp Casey miracle is all about. American citizens who oppose the war but never had a conduit for their disgust and dismay are dropping everything and traveling to Crawford to stand in solidarity with us who have made a commitment to sit outside of George's ranch for the duration of the miserable Texan August. If they can't come to Texas, they are attending vigils, writing letters to their elected officials and to their local newspapers; they are setting up Camp Casey branches in their hometowns; they are sending flowers, cards, letters, gifts, and donations here to us at Camp Casey. We are so grateful for all of the support, but I think pro-peace Americans are grateful for something to do, finally.

I introduced the quote in a perjorative manner because I want you to look at it with critical eyes. Cindy has accidentally revealed that Camp Casey does not have anything to offer for America's future: all it's doing is giving protesters a Real Good Feeling.

It is, sadly, a completely false Real Good Feeling. The Bush plan of creating stable democracies in the Middle East is the only approach anyone's developed so far that doesn't involve some form of regional ethnic cleansing. I mean, does anyone think a complete Jewish withdrawal from Israel would go more smoothly than the Gaza pullout?

Of course, I'm sure some protesters are willing to compromise. Instead of getting rid of all the Jews, we could simply leave Iraq to its own devices and let things work out for themselves. That is, after all, what we did in Afghanistan in the early Nineties. Some people may feel that the results of that decision were not exactly good for the cause of Global Peace and Tranquility.

But of course, if you start thinking that far ahead, it's hard to maintain a Real Good Feeling, so I'm not expecting to hear that argument coming from anywhere near Camp Casey.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

I like Conservative Cat's comment. These anti-war-anti-bush people really can't think far enough into the future. The only thing they can think of is the hope that the world would be a better place without the US military might. I know I shouldn't be blo [Read More]

Good post, Ferdy. AHM read me that HuffPuff post and said she hadn't heard anything like it since the "Make Love Not War" protests of the 60's. And we all know how that business turned out...

Thanks for the link. Old Catfish pretty much got to the heart of the matter with his observations.

Cindy Sheehan is opportunistic moron. She could care less about the son she didn't raise.

Cindy Sheehan should be in a straight jacket. Anybody that would send her $$$ is nuts. If she doesn't like the USA she should move to Cuba or Iraq.
