Web Site News - Clicking for Cathy

by Ferdinand T Cat

For the next week or so, Chris Muir of Day by Day is asking people to click through ads for the Cancer Ablation Center in order to help them raise awareness. You can see one such ad (Designed by Beth of My Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy) in our sidebar. If you have your own blog, you can copy and paste the HTML below to get the image and the link in your sidebar.

<a href="http://www.cancerablation.com/"><img

height="209" title="Cancer Ablation Center"></a>

The Cancer Ablation Center specializes in treating tumors via radiofrequency ablation (RFA). Radiofrequency ablation uses microwaves to kill a tumor by literally cooking it in place. The microwaves come from a needle that is inserted directly into the tumor. RFA was first used to treat cancer in the mid Nineties, the idea being to develop an alternative to surgery. The original RFA treatments used fiber optics to guide the needle. Modern RFA treatments use computed tomography, which is also the basis for the omnipresent heart-check ads you hear on the radio.

Although it has been around for over a decade, this is but a heartbeat in the glacial process of medical regulation, so RFA is not covered by all insurance companies. This is probably why the Ablation Center is trying to increase its profile.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

Clicking that link won't help the Yahoo ranking any! Yahoo has no way of knowing the traffic of the site. Rankings are determined (in part) by number of incoming links. Yahoo doesn't have access to traffic info or click info.

Now if you are doing it for a direct awareness effort, that's cool. But this baloney in the Day by Day strip about Yahoo ranking...
