Laura Ingraham - Jason From the Left and the Christian Agenda

by Ferdinand T Cat

Today I noticed for the first time that I don't hear very many calls from liberals on the Laura Ingraham show. This is a clear difference from Rush Limbaugh, although it is also the case that Laura has liberal guests and Rush doesn't.

Anyway, this thought occurred to me because today she got a call from a left-winger named Jason and it was a pretty intense experience. My problem with the call was that Jason claimed the war in Iraq is part of a "right-wing Christian agenda", and he never adequately explained what he meant by that.

I've spent a long time trying to figure out what goes on in the average liberal head, so I'm pretty sure I understand the "right-wing" part, but the "Christian" part eludes me. Can somebody explain to me why this war serves Christian purposes in particular? Do Christians use more oil than other folk? Do atheists not want democracy to spread in the Middle East? Are Jews worried about women getting the right to vote? Are Scientologists convinced the road to peace is to get the Jews out of Israel?

I consider myself to be pretty creative, but this one has me stumped.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

One explanation I've seen is that conservative Christians are supposedly trying to hasten the Second Coming by getting involved in the Middle East. Another explanation is that the war is a modern-day crusade against Islam. It's just standard conspiracy theory stuff, in this case aimed at conservative Christians rather than Jewish neo-conservatives. Some conspiracy theorists even go for a twofer and suggest that Jewish neo-cons are using Christians to further their Zionist aims.
