Confused Americans for Truth - Sometimes You Need a Clinton
There is no doubt in my mind that Bill Clinton would have handled this crisis better than George W. Bush. While it is true that the governor of Louisiana waited too long to call in the National Guard and the mayor of New Orleans botched the evacuation, it is also true that the American people needed somebody to reassure them that we would survive this. I'm sure most of my readers think Bill Clinton is a publicity-seeking grandstander, but sometimes publicity-seeking grandstanding is what people need in order to feel safe.
So here's my question. Where was the brains of the Clinton family when the levees broke? All she had to do was make some noise about asking the Bush Administration to hurry up the rescue effort and we could have pulled out of this thing with America getting the job done and the junior Senator from New York being a national savior. Instead, she's calling for an investigation.
I think this is exactly the problem with the Democratic party: their brains are stuck in the Watergate hearings. Instead of seeing problems that need to be solved, they see opportunities for nationally-televised hearings. I normally don't like to predict the future, but I have this awful intuition that Congress is going to spend the fall session coming up with ways to make FEMA even bigger and slower than it already is.
Here's a better idea: call your senator right now and say that the solution to our problem is not a bigger bureaucracy: it's a new one-person Department of Publicity-Seeking Grandstanding, and until we get one, we want Bill Clinton pulled out of this post-relief administration nonsense so he can be johnny-on-the-spot BEFORE the looting starts.
I think it's wonderful that all you conservatives are trying to analyze this thing logically, but your forebrain has only been around for a few million years, while your fear center has been running the show since those dark years when your ancestors were stealing eggs from dinosaurs. You can't take it out of the equation.
Bill Clinton, Official Grandstander. Trust me on this.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

I prefer a leader who remains calm and announces an emergency situation. Let the investigations begin and I think we may find the LA Dem leaders did not want to take any suggestions from President Bush because of their hatred for him. Clinton talks a good talk but he ignored multiple attacks on US interests and our country reaped the blows from his preoccupation with other matters.

So now its Clinton's fault? Oh Lord...

No, it's Bush's fault. He was the one who sent Bill to the Indian Ocean, leaving the homeland unprotected. You'll notice that one of the first things he did after the storm of criticism hit was to bring Bill back. It's my understanding he actually considered asking Al Gore for help, but Karl Rove reminded him that the last time Gore toured a flood zone, he blamed the damage on the victims for living too close to the water.
