Confused Americans for Truth - Highlights of the Roberts Hearings
- Senator Charles Schumer of New York today attempted to break a world record by referring to himself 49 times in a 10-minute speech (that's one first-person pronoun every 12 seconds).
- Ranking Democrat Charles Leahy said that hurricane Katrina is "a tragic reminder of why we have a federal government". Basically, when local government fails, it's important to have a federal government that can fail, too.
- Roberts dodged the abortion question four times before 9:40am, proving that no matter how many times you ask him a question in a short time frame, he'll give you the same answer.
- Senator Kennedy (D - Massachussetts) argued the importance of overturning previous court cases. Senator Durbin (D - Illinois) argued the importance of NOT overturning previous court cases.
- CNN, the most trusted name in TV news (which Peg-Eye Nate says is comparable to "the safest strain of plague") has a list of important legal terms that will be discussed during the hearings. Hurricane Katrina is not mentioned.
- MSNBC accidentally reminds us that, regardless of what happens at the hearings, the Democratic leadership has already decided how they'll vote.
Respectfully submitted,
