Web Site News - Blogrolling Won't Ping
Blogrolling.com, the premiere service for maintaining lists of links on blogs, is currently undergoing maintenance. Their website had this to say on the subject.
We are performing system maintenance on Friday. During this time your blogrolls will still display, however, they will not notify you of any updates. This maintenance window should only be for a couple of hours.
You trigger the update notification service by sending a trackback ping to http://rpc.blogrolling.com/pinger. The downtime kicked in at 2pm on Friday; however, as of this writing, that address returns a 404 Not Found error.
The Federal Election Commission has recently taken an interest in regulating blogs. It seems to me that if they want us to look a little less unfovarably on the regulatory process, they should be all over helping the Blogrolling guys get back up and running. If nothing happens in the next few days, look for a prominent feminist to announce that Bush isn't helping to fix Blogrolling because most bloggers are women.
| UPDATE: The blogrolling ping service finally came back online around 10:00AM on Monday, October 3. The first successful ping from a blog on our blogroll was this article (which I would like to point out was from a female blogger). |
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

The big issue I had was the setup wizard and all the tutorials were all geared around each interface being in a different broadcast domain/subnet.
