Confused Americans for Truth - It's Time To Get Serious About Plamegate

by Ferdinand T Cat

It's time once again for everybody to seriously consider the advantages of thinking like a cat.

For the past week we have been subjected to a series of leaks regarding the investigation into whether or not a high-ranking Bush official leaked secret information to the press. The most recent indications are that the two figures central to the investigation-- Karl Rove and Lewis Libby-- did not violate the law; however, Libby is likely to be charged for attempting to cover up the crime he did not commit.

Sorry. I swear, I'm really trying hard to keep this from sounding like a Dimwit Zone episode, but it isn't easy.

Humans are tribal animals, and most conservatives consider the Bush Administration to be part of our tribe, despite the recent need to slap him around for Impersonating a Moderate. So, the natural human instinct is to downplay the shenanigans that let to the outing of Valerie Plame, especially given the perception that Plame had been acting in the interests of the Democratic Party rather than the United States government.

Cats are solitary hunters, and as a result our focus is not on what the rest of the tribe is doing, it's on killing the target. The target for conservatives is terrorism. The strategy for defeating it is to bring democracy to the Middle East.

The architect of that strategy is Karl Rove. I am sure many of you feel that Rove is being persecuted for his beliefs and not his actions. That may be true, but I suspect that if Karl eventually gets charged with obstruction, he'll be able to take care of himself. And if his strategy works and Iraq becomes a beacon of hope for a peaceful future, it's going to be very difficult to sell anybody on the idea that this affair is anything but a vindictive witch hunt by a bunch of sore losers.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

Ferdie -

I agree with your point and your exhortations but you have to admit our tribe is led by a gang of gutless wonders who've never been in a schoolyard fight let alone one on a battlefield.

I swear most of the conservative shakers and movers in this country would have aligned themselves with Chamberlain and Kennedy if it were WWII rather than GWOT right now!
