Dog Bites Man - Shocking News About Iraq
This just in: the Bush Administration may be trying to put a positive spin on the war in Iraq.
I'm sorry. Am I the only one who feels he's stepped into some weird mirror universe?
The number one goal for the terrorists right now is to disrupt the constitutional referendum. Earlier today, they cut off electrical power in Baghdad and bombed an office of the Sunni Islamic Party. Bush's staged teleconference can be seen as a direct slap in the face of the terrorist goals. Among the statements made:
Stephen Pratt, Captain: The Iraqi army and police services, along with coalition support, have conducted many and multiple exercises and rehearsals. Along with the coalition backing them, we'll have a very successful and effective referendum vote.
Gregg Murphy, First Lieutenant: Back in January ... we had to lead the way. This time, they're doing everything. ... They've got it laid out.
The Bush administration clearly wants the Iraqi people to feel that they can stand up to the terrorists and take control of their own destiny. His foes in the press feel he's spinning a fairy tale. In the next few days we'll find out whether his confidence is justified.
Then it really won't matter who got told the questions in advance.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat
