Illini Carnival - Carnival of the Vicious, Invading Paleface Bastards #5

by Ferdinand T Cat

Welcome once again to the biggest (and only) carnival dedicated to the great state of Illinois, home to the World-Series-winning White Sox and the Karl-Rove-losing Patrick Fitzgerald, where children sort of get sort of guaranteed health care and the only elections that matter in the state's most populous city are the Democratic primaries.

The fun begins below the fold.

Lisa of Cross Blogging talks about The Love Won Out conference in Boston. Love Won Out preaches that homosexuality is not an incurable condition. If true, this means that homosexuality is a choice and not a characteristic of birth, which means the homosexual lobby would lose its protected minority status.

Aaron of Free Will has an in-depth look at the Paris riots, including quotes from a blogger on the scene and the reaction of the Iranian government.

Bloggo Chicago has a report on the much-anticipated video game Star Wars Battlefront II.

Bruno Behrend of Extreme Wisdom has his own take on the Paris situation: it's not about cultural values, but the values of a culture. Rick Moran of Right Wing Nuthouse takes a look from a slightly different perspective, and sees the bill coming due for a whole lot of arrogance.

Mark of Liberty Just in Case looks at the other big story brewing this week and has some useful links to articles about the lies of Joe Wilson.

Over at Renew Illinois they have a scary story for a state that's desperately short of cash: Blagojevich's distortion of state's financial picture reminiscent of 'Enron' style accounting.

Chicago is home to a lot of unused rooftop water tanks. Red Chicago reports on an idea to turn them into something useful and fun.

Rossputin.com has the story of an unusual-- but highly welcome-- event in the tort arena: Finally, a Jury Gets a Pharmaceutical Case Right.

From Eyes on the Ball we have a more satirical take on the Paris riots: French Police on hunt for soiled Koran.

Finally, The Hungry Writer regales us with the subtext of another difficult emotion: It Starts With Life and Moves to Memories.

That's it for this week. If you want to get in next week's carnival, simply use our handy Carnival Submit Form. Until then, the fifth Carnival of Vicious, Invading Paleface Bastards is

Respectfully submitted,

Mr. Cat,
Certainly this was more appealing for you to read. I would suggest that I wrote it for you, but you wouldn't believe me. After all, you have nine lives, and that is a hell of a lot memories in any cat's book. Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and tell that Bruce I said hello.

Regards,
