Confused Americans for Truth - Doctor Dean Turns Out to be a Quack

by Ferdinand T Cat

Wizbang has excerpts of Howard Dean's duck performance on Meet the Press. Most people focus on his statement that the Democrats will reveal their plan for America in early 2006; however, I found this statement even more fascinating.

We have an alternative agenda. We made it very clear. We want a strong national security based on telling the truth to our people at home, our soldiers and our allies. We want jobs in America that'll stay in America, and we believe that renewable energy is one of the areas where we can do that. We want a health-care system that covers everybody, just like 36 other countries in the world. We want a strong public education system. And most of all, we want honesty back in government. I think that's a pretty good agenda.

Now, as you read the above statement, an alarm bell is going off in your head. That alarm knows exactly what it's doing, because Dean's agenda is not an agenda, it's a list of goals!

DoctorDean.jpgEverybody has goals; however, you only want to do business with people who know how to accomplish those goals. Dean is like a physician who tells you he's in favor of curing your strep throat, but doesn't know how. Even the most incompetent HMO is not going to pay for that kind of treatment.

I don't think the public is going to want to vote for it, either.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

As long as Howie sticks around there is going to be plenty of material to play with.

May I respectfully submit that Dean's list is NOT a list of goals; it's a wishlist. Goals have defined objectives with time and resource constraints acknowledged, accounted for and built into the structure of each goal, in other words, substantive rhetoric.

Dean's list, being empty of substance, is nothing but empty rhetoric, hot air. No goals, just talk.

But dangerous talk, because attempting to implement that wishlist given the propensity of Dean and his ilk to impose idiosyncratic definitions of terms that are undistinguishable from 1984-type Newspeak, means that the Law of Unintended Consequences is being deliberately massaged by these folks to return what they want, not what they say...
