Notes from Ferdy - Give Peace a Chance and Declare War on Israel
People always ask Bruce how I can be so smart and still support the war in Iraq, so I thought I'd better explain it.
Now, a lot of people get stuck on the whole Bush-lied-soldiers-died thing, but that means nothing to me. Whatever was said about yellow cake uranium, the most important goal of the war is the Rove Doctrine: replacing fascism by capitalist democracy in the Middle East. If you want to impeach Bush, go right ahead, but that doesn't change anything about whether or not we should stay there.
See, when you get right down to it, giving Iraq back to the terrorists is not going to solve our problem. Eventually, it comes down to driving the Jews from Israel, and the Jews are not going to go voluntarily. Right now, thanks to repeated violent attacks by the Israeli forces on terrorist sites in Gaza, the Palestinians don't have enough suicide bombers to make a significant dent in the Jewish population. So, instead of asking why I don't want to pull the U.S. Army out of Iraq, the real question is, why aren't more progressives paying children to kill Jews? That's what Saddam was doing before we captured him,. If you believe taking Saddam down was a mistake, then it seems to me it's up to you to fill in the gap.
In the meantime, I'll stick to my plan of supporting the occupation of Iraq. It's dirty, it's dangerous, and some bad mistakes are being made, but it seems to me a much better plan than the alternative.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat
