Confused Americans for Truth - Generally Fraudulent Accounting Principles
Recently, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich unveiled a new initiative to create jobs by spending money. What's funny about this plan is that it is so similar to the Illinois First plan of former Governor George Ryan. That plan was a huge success except for the fact that we lost jobs and ended Ryan's term with a billion-dollar shortfall. Perhaps Blagojevich is counting on the fact that voters won't remember the failure of Ryan's plan.
It's also possible, however, that Blagojevich is simply a victim of his own wishful thinking. Consider this comment from a report we received today regarding a recent government audit (emphasis mine).
In October, the Illinois Auditor General issued a follow up report that showed the Blagojevich administration had abandoned $76 million in claimed "efficiency savings" that never existed. But, the state’s Central Management Services agency still clung to claims of $545 million in savings, even though they could not document those savings. Blagojevich even hired a private contractor through a $1 million no-bid contract to try to find the missing savings.
Even a dynamic young reformer is not above a little business as usual.
Respectfully submitted,
