Notes from Ferdy - Iraq Shows Cat-Like Wisdom and Moves Away from the Precipice

by Ferdinand T Cat

Mensa Barbia has an article about America's history of gang violence. It includes a link to this very welcome news about peacemaking efforts by Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq.

I've been thinking over the weekend about why I get so upset by these stories of Muslim riots and sectarian violence. I think it's because of the sacred mission of cats to kill vermin. Killing things is my business, but I only kill to protect and to eat. I don't kill just because I'm angry. Humans have the luxury of anger because they're big. When you're over five feet tall, you have the option of surviving the backlash from your rage. Cat rage does not involve molotov cocktails. It involves looking real big and then taking off at 50mph in the other direction while your opponent is hopefully having second thoughts.

The Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq are learning this lesson. Twenty-nine people were killed today, but there were millions who woke up with their ordinary families and did ordinary things. To me, that's the best life in the world. I will never be a gigantic historical force like Bill Gates or Ronald Reagan, but I do make the world a better place by killing vermin and bringing laughter to the people I love. It's a powerful thing, and I think most humans would choose that life if they had the option. Terrorism is all about taking that option away.

Today, terrorism lost another battle, and I'm happy.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
