Confused Americans for Truth - Islamists Go On Rampage to Protest Violent Stereotype

by Ferdinand T Cat

I can't believe this whole cartoon thing is still escalating.

This is all a result of attempting to graft American sensibilities on a decidedly non-Western culture. For decades, we here in America have used the Grand Gaffe as a political tool. Some poor shmuck will say something stupid, and the opposition will pile on with the outrage until it either blows over or the shmuck resigns in disgrace. This is a useful political tool, in that it allows somebody to be tanked from office without an election, but we must remember it is only a tool. The tool only works against people who are basically decent and did not mean to offend anybody. If the shmuck wanted to be offensive, the outrage is only going to make him happier.

This is the fatal mistake made by the world Muslim community. The shmucky Danish newspaper that started this row has apologized, but there are a whole bunch of westerners who are more than happy to offend the Religion of Peace. These people are tired of catering to the sensibilities of a community that has been letting its worst elements do all the talking, and no angry mob of torchbearers is going to stop them.

So, here we are. The more violent the offended Muslims get, the more frisky the offended Westerners are going to get. Past experience tells me that eventually this whole thing will die down, but that past experience exists because this is not the first time we've had Muslim riots and it won't be the last. Eventually, somebody will go too far.

When that happens, I would like it to be for something a little less stupid than a cartoon.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

While you're right, all of us should be careful not to show further pictures to our Muslim friends. For example, don't tell them how to search for images on Google, otherwise they could also try to find the photograph of Allah himself (in Pakistan)...

Let me say that in no way do I excuse the type of activity that the Muslims undertook based on these silly cartoons. However, it is also clear that the Christian population in this country is not too far removed from that same type of stupidity. Think back to the Christian community's reaction to John Lennon's innocent (and maybe truthful) statement that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus Christ. This comment infuriated Christians who burned Beatle albums and memorabilia, and even made death threats against the Beatles.

In all sincerity, that type of activity by Christians (of which I am one) is embarrassing, but I am not ready to condemn the entire Christian faith due to the stupidity of the few most rabid and unintelligen of its followers. Likewise, while I find the protests and the killings insane, I think we need to be careful not to be overly critical and claim that the entire Muslim community is nuts over the activities of the most rabid members of the Muslim faith.
