Bronze Empire - The Dragon of Upways Gorge
When Bruce's children were young, he wrote several short stories based on conservative principles that he would read to them before bedtime. For the past several weeks he has been building a wiki encyclopedia for the world in which the stories take place. The first story is now ready
The Dragon of Upways Gorge
It's about a dragon, a suit of magic armor, and the consequences of monetizing government debt.
This particular story actually began its life as a children's play; however, when Bruce had it read at a local theater, the staff was so horrified by the political implications that they blanked it out. To this day most have only a vague recollection of the incident.
Anyway, click on the link, and if you like the story, be sure to let Bruce know. If you don't like it, don't worry: in a few days the pain will fade and you'll have forgotten the whole thing.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

Great story, Bruce. Think you should take another shot at gettin' a play done too.

Bruce, if you have a collection of these stories that's large enough, it might actually pay to explore the Amazon.com short fiction publication thing. Francis Hamit has commented on his experience doing so over at Jerry Pournelle's Chaos Manor Musings
There may be some "gotchas" I don't recall from his outline of the process, but still, perhaps worth looking into, cos The Dragon of Upways Gorge is definitely worth wider readership, IMO.
My only complaint about this post about the story is that ya didn't tb a link to one-a my open posts so I'd be sure to find it faster.
:-)
BTW, the confirmation word for posting is once again one of my favs==use it all the time: xfnsubq. Good word. We ought all have it in our working vocabularies. "xfnsubq, a frascillating urt of the mejoes family"
