EMAIL Hell - Dear Lady Please Read

by Ferdinand T Cat

Every now and then, you get a piece of spam that is so wrong on so many levels that you just can't let it pass without comment. The following was addressed to me personally, and another copy was sent to Bruce.

Hi

This is a legitimate appeal for ladies only. If you are interested or if you want to unsuscribe email me.

I'm an Italian guy.
I'm sending this message to the people because I'm bored to live in Italy,I'm looking for a lady what could invite me in usa.I seek a millionaires american lady who desires a young guy for marriage.

It continues, but you get the picture. Aside from the total idiocy of the premise, I feel a certain disconnect due to the fact he offers a link for unsubscribing. What would I be unsubscribing from? EMAILS from other men looking to marry a rich American woman?

There's also the possibility that this is not some idiot trying to find a wife but is in fact another variation of the Nigerian scam, in which the victim ends up shelling out thousands of dollars to fund a mail-order marriage that is never going to happen. That's the truly annoying thing about spam. EMAIL has become such a breeding ground for fraud that you can't tell any more who is trying to rip you off and how theyr'e going to do it unless you actually get yourself involved with the scammer in question. It just seems so tacky.

Anyway, if you're a wealthy American woman in the market for some male affection, stay away from this guy. For a fraction of the cost, you can come over to Bruce's house with a bag of Sargento's Mozzarella Fancy Shred and I will shower you with all the love you can handle.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
