Adventures with Bruce - Riding a Bike

by Ferdinand T Cat

There's a common human metaphor about riding a bike. When someone says something is just like riding a bike, they mean that once you learn it, you never un-learn it. No matter how long the skill has been idle, it comes right back when you need it.

The important thing you need to know about this metaphor is that riding a bike is NOT just like riding a bike. The other day the Girl Who Feeds Me tried to go bike riding with Bruce and it was a complete disaster. Although he could more or less maintain upright, he was unable to steer. Fortunately, before he went too far he figured out that if you lean all the way to one side the bike stops. I'm told that there are less painful ways to do it, but both he and the Girl decided at that point that the experiment was a failure and went for a walk instead.

Anyway, I thought everyone would want a heads-up on this.

Respectfully submitted,
