Web Site News - The Important Thing Here is That It's Not My Fault

by Ferdinand T Cat

Bruce has always been the weak link in this operation, and it's been a tough week.

His main responsibility at work is maintaining a government web site dedicated to genetic research into pathogens. The site is part of a group of projects designed to find how to kill pathogens or render them harmless.

The problem is that since Thursday, something was tampering with the site and taking it offline. Each day Bruce would fix the damage, and the next day it would be busted again. The good news is that yesterday they figured out what was going on (an automated update program gone awry) and it's not going to happen again. The bad news is that the fancy gene-browser application that draws chromosome maps is still not working.

Bruce is, of course, meeting this challenge with his usual suave aplomb, but Peg-Eye Nate has gotten him to stop crying, and Barb Gigamaster assures me she can talk him down from his perch on the roof, so we should be back to normal soon.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
