EMAIL Hell - Visa Theft Card

by Ferdinand T Cat

Today we received several copies of a phishing EMAIL that pretends to be from the Publix Employees Federal Credit Union. The EMAIL is peddling a Visa gift card, a plausible service given that PEFCU already provides several Visa-related services. If you click on the link, you're taken to a page that asks for your login information.

This is a run-of-the-mill identity theft campaign, but it's interesting to me because the recipient address in one of the EMAILs was the phony address huhnknkjph@mkrules.net.

Yes, folks, it's true. Not only are we getting spam to our real EMAIL addresses, we are also getting spam sent to the fake addresses made up by spammers.

This has got to stop.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
