Confused Americans for Truth - Kidnapping and Murder as a Cheap Public Relations Gimmick
As someone who trolls news blogs, you are probably much more informed than the average person; however, can you tell me in less then 10 seconds the name of Iraq terrorist leader Abu Musab al Zarqawi's replacement? Probably not. (It's Abu Ayyub al Masri, in case you're curious.) On the other hand, the name "Nasrallah" has been all over the news. He's here, he's there, he's everywhere.
There is a simple reason for this: Nasrallah's terror organization pushed Israel too far and triggered an invasion.
If Nasrallah had any compassion for the average Lebanese citizen, he would be horrified at what he started. Instead, he's on every TV station explaining that he's as strong as ever. Nasrallah is shouting bring 'em on, but it's Lebanon, not Nasrallah's Hezbollah organization, that is paying the bulk of the price. Lebanon will continue to pay the price until the world stops treating Nasrallah as a hero simply because he's not dead yet.
It gets worse. So long as Israel is in Lebanon, Nasrallah is the man of the hour. Once they leave, he goes back to being another terrorist thug in a part of the world that is chock full of terrorist thugs. Condoleezza Rice is understating the situation when she says there's no "quick fix". Unless Nasrallah is killed or captured he'll just go back to testing Israel until he provokes them. This was, after all, not Hezbollah's first act of war, just the first one in a long time to provoke a serious military response. Given that the military response has made him an instant celebrity, I can't imagine him waiting very long before provoking another invasion.
Personally, I don't want to see Nasrallah killed. I want him to be forced to sell all his rockets and military vehicles to help pay for the reconstruction of Lebanon. More than that, I want the government of Lebanon to declare that Hezbollah can't build an armory in the basement of a mosque or school unless they have the money to rebuild the thing when the Israelis blow it up. Then I want Nasrallah to pay the medical bills of everybody who has to be taken to the hospital, and I want him to pay the transportation costs for everyone who's had to flee the country.
See, real heroes are willing to pay a price for their actions. That's what makes them heroes instead of mercenaries. The United States has a history of paying to rebuild the places where we wage war. That's heroic. Nasrallah wants to be able to kill Jews without suffering consequences. That makes him a thug, not a hero.
Someone needs to explain this to the poor dupes who are paying the price for Nasrallah's new-found fame.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

What some folks won't do for 15 minutes of fame. Wonder if becoming a martyr factored into his plans? ;)

You forgot liability coverage for accidental death, for the families of the civilians killed in those schools and mosques.
