Confused Americans for Truth - Palestinians Celebrate Rocket Attack

by Ferdinand T Cat

A rocket fired by Hezbollah into the West Bank missed its intended target and landed near a Palestinian village. The strategic importance of this latest attack is that the rocket reached further south than any of Hezbollah's previous efforts. The interesting part of the story is the reaction of the Palestinians near the rocket's impact point.

[A] Fatah member related that local residents cheered when they heard the rocket fall and saw the resulting flames. “Even if it were to fall on our heads, it wouldn’t have spoiled our joy. All of us here are praying for Hezbollah’s success and victory," he said.

I find that level of hatred positively insane.

It's worth noting that there is a fundamental difference between the war Hezbollah is raging and the one conducted by Israel. Israel's primary objective is to destroy Heabollah's military capabilities. Hezbollah's primary objective is to kill Jews.

By any real measure, therefore, Hezbollah's conduct of the war has been a complete failure. The Israelis in the target area are hiding in bomb shelters, so Hezbollah is mostly blowing up buildings. On the other hand, Israel claims to have destroyed over 700 Hezbollah military caches.

The problem is, for the Israelis, collateral deaths are a bad thing. They are waging war on Hezbollah's rockets and bombs, not Lebanon's people, and when things go wrong, it's front-page news. On the other hand, Hezbollah almost wipes out a Palestinian village, and the near-victims are happy to die for the cause.

So, when Israel's detractors start moaning about the horrible things going on in Lebanon, they are leaving out the most important fact: the Israelis are sane; its enemies are not.

I know who I'm rooting for.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
