Notes from Ferdy - Sugar Bush Squirrel Throws Her Hat in the Ring
Fans of Tammy Bruce already know this, but Sugar Bush Squirrel has decided to run for President.
There is no question that a candidate who knows how to recognize a nut would have value in the White House. Plus, Sugar Bush does have a pretty good record as a supporter of the military. Nonetheless, it is really hard for me to trust someone with a bushy tail. Plus, I suspect that if I get behind Sugar Bush, or indeed, anywhere within line of sight of her, it would pretty much be the end of her career.
Nonetheless, there is a general problem in our culture about the perception of predators and prey. People, it is axiomatic that predators are smarter. Let us take, for example, the case of fictional dinosaurs. In dinosaur stories, whether it be The Land Before Time or Dinotopia, the herbivorous dinosaurs are civilized, while the carnivorous ones are mindless monsters. Please note the picture below.

Consider, if you will the difference in the size of the head compared to the size of the body. This is because it does not require a whole lot of brainpower to track down a tree and eat its leaves. So if there's going to be someone civilized, it's going to be the one with a brain: the predator.
I think that's a very important principle: predators think, herbivores stink. Don't forget to point that out if your children are watching Land Before Time 106 or Dinotopia: Return of the Socialists.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

Awesome post! My daughter loves TLBT, but I cringe every time I see the T-Rex (the very presence of which is an anachronism, witness the several prey species that did NOT live in the Cretaceous), being portrayed as an evil, mindless beast. It's good that they portrayed the Steg. as a dolt, though. Walnut-sized brain, indeed.
