Confused Americans for Truth - Temporary Cold Snap in Hell Indicates Pop Culture Shift
Democrats are rushing to defend President Bush against Hugo Chavez's attack. They want everyone to know that it is wrong to personally attack the President even if you disagree with his policies.
Stop laughing, damn it! I'm serious. Do you see Humor listed in the tags for this post?
Anyway, this is not a sign that pigs are about to fly and the world is coming to an end. This is simply an indication that Hugo Chavez has lost his status as a pop superstar. Like Tom Cruise, Hugo can now be ridiculed on South Park.
I appreciate the Democrats' efforts here to shore up the reputation of their country, but Hugo Chavez is not the problem. Yes, he is a cultural icon in certain sectors, but the real problem is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Unlike Chavez, Mahmoud has very immediate political goals designed to disrupt the War on Terror. Worse, he thinks he's some sort of love messiah.
So, tell your local Democrats thanks for the Chavez thing, but we have bigger problems right now. There's a megalomaniac anti-Semite who's installed himself as a dictator in a small but powerful country. It seems to me the Democrats were solidly against a similar guy a little over a half a century ago, and the same sort of vigilance would really help right now.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat
