Confused Americans for Truth - Madonna Adoption Plan Proves Disturbing
A few days ago, the international pop star Madonna initiated adoption of a 13-month-old Malawi boy named "David". The adoption has aroused controversy because the Malawi government bent its usual rules on foreign adoptions and because some people think it's a tacky publicity stunt.
Honestly, I can't bring myself to view this event with a cynical eye. Madonna is getting a break here because she helped build an orphanage. Anyone who has experienced American poverty is bound to be blown away by the way things are in countries that are genuinely poor. Whether she is genuinely trying to help or is assuaging a liberal sense of guilt, the result is that the children in Malawi are going to benefit from her efforts, and that's a good thing.
The real problem with this whole thing is that unlike the kids left behind in the Malawi orphanage, Baby David will be spending large portions of his formative years with Madonna, who is a major-league mind-wrecker. This woman single-handedly destroyed one of the most original and creative directors in recent cinema history-- Guy Ritchie. Before he married Madonna, he did things like Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, and Snatch. Since the marriage, he's put out Swept Away and Revolver. I'm sorry, but I don't think it's safe to put a woman with that kind of power in charge of a child's life.
So here's my solution. There are thousands of people in both England and America who aren't lunatics, and we can let David live with them. Then, we'll get a team of psychiatrists to figure out what caused Guy's career to flame out. If they can get at least one more good film out of him, then we'll know that any damage she does to young children can be repaired, and she can adopt as many poor kids as she wants.
I think that's a compromise everybody can live with.
Respectfully submitted,

I think that sounds like a great plan, Ferdy. I think David would be doomed to a very strange life if he spent his first years with the "Material Girl". Now we just gotta convince her to shed a "Ray of Light" on the boy's chances by becoming a "Beautiful Stranger" in his life. Great post!
