The Cat's Meow - 11/21/06: Makings

by Ferdinand T Cat
When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. When life hands you journalists, make tracks.

A long time ago, Bruce was interviewed by a newspaper columnist, and what he remembers most vivdly about the experience is that during the interview, the columnist was very friendly and supportive, but when the article finally appeared, the tone was decidedly hostile.

This is why it's so silly that the people victimized in the movie Borat are doing lawsuits. If a man were impersonating a doctor, or a psychologist, or a priest, then maybe you would have reason to be upset if he stabbed you in the back. But if a guy claims to be a journalist, then signing the release form is equivalent to installing a giant flashing neon Kick Me! sign on top of your head. If he's a real journalist, he's going to try to make you look bad, and if he's a fake journalist, he's going to try to make you look bad.

Either way, the only safe response is to tear up the release form and make tracks.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
