Confused Americans for Truth - Looking Into the Liberal Mind for Understanding of the Problems in Iraq
It has really been bothering me that yesterday on the radio Barak Obama said that the Iraqis aren't ready for "Jefferson-style democracy". This same argument was used by the Western powers in the early Twentieth Century to justify their imperial ambitions, and it's odd to hear it from someone who claims to be enlightened.
This unease didn't coalesce until I read this article in Blue Star Chronicles about a journalist who thinks we should put Saddam back in power.
That's when it hit me. All along, we've been looking at the insurgents as religious fanatics, and that the cure to the problem is to teach them religious tolerance. That's silly. There are all sorts of intolerant religious fanatics in this country and they don't go blowing up churches or burning people alive in the streets. The reason for this is that our intolerant religious fanatics are conservatives. Sectarian violence is not caused by religion, it's caused by the insidious groupthink that underlies modern liberalism: the idea that strength comes from numbers, and the sins of the past should be avenged in the present.
Saddam understood this principle. Back in the Eighties, the marsh arabs allowed Shi'a rebels into their territory, and rather than apply the conservative principle of holding individuals responsible for their own actions, he completely destroyed the region's ecosystem and burned people's homes. You and I might consider this a terrible humanitarian disaster, but in a system of thought that punishes the group for the sins of a few members, it makes perfect sense.
Our troubles in Iraq have nothing to do with religious tolerance. They have nothing to do with extremism. They have nothing to do with who is holding what type of guns. They have everything to do with the principle of ethnic revenge. Look at any story of violence in Iraq and you'll find the word revenge somewhere in the first few paragraphs.
The wheels of justice turn slowly in a democracy, too slowly for people who are married to the concept of revenge, and let's face it folks, liberals are worse than married to revenge: they are the official instant-wedding universal church of revenge. That's why this mind-bogglingly stupid story from last week is still news. I'm sure liberals would like you to think that Pat Robertson is the appropriate model for the enemy we face, but the truth is it's Gloria Allred.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the problem in the Middle East is not religion, it's liberalism. We cannot afford to forget that.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

Excellent post and you are of course correct-the problem is liberalism in the Middle East - but I would like to state that it is a problem globally and the U.S. is not excluded.
Liberalism destroys. PERIOD.
