Notes from Ferdy - My Pledge to Liberals
Bruce's friend Murray of Hitting Metal with a Hammer pointed us to this article, which dissects the Liberal Pledge email that is making the rounds and that is now displayed prominently on Michael Moore's web site as well.
It's possible that the Pledge is specifically designed as hate mail, but I choose to think that it's sincere. The problem is that the Pledge is being made by people like Michael Moore, yet it's circumscribing the behavior of people like Nancy Pelosi. That makes no sense. So, in my pledge, I am only talking about what I will do. I hope that all the Pledging liberals out there accept it pledge in the same spirit of kindness and sincerity that produced theirs.
- If the United States becomes the last Western democracy to ration medical care, I will think of you.
- If Iraq turns into another Viet Nam, I will think of you,
- If our taxes go up and the economy tanks, I will think of you.
- If there is another terrorist attack on American soil, I will think of you.
- If a minimum-wage increase dries up the job market for young people, I will think of you.
- If the government takes money from therapies that work to subsidize research that requires harvesting unborn children, I will think of you.
- Finally, I pledge that I will do everything in my power to keep these stupid things from happening, even though doing so might result in getting your party re-elected in two years.
Have fun trying to run the country.
