Catblogging - The Ribbon Problem

by Ferdinand T Cat

Ferdy playing with a ribbon
Here is an excellent example of bad product design. Ribbons are generally bright and flashy, which makes them easier for a cat to see when they are bouncing around. Obviously, then, they're intended as cat toys, and when the Gremlin is waving a ribbon in front of me, I play with it. This gets me extra attention, which is always a good thing. The problem is, if you get a claw through the surface of the ribbon, it gets stuck. Here you see me addressing the problem by trying to bite through the ribbon. Sadly, teeth made for tearing flesh off of small animals are useless when you're trying to cut through fabric.

Anyway, if you're a cat and you want to play with a ribbon, keep the claws in the sheaths. I know it doesn't make sense, but I don't make the rules, I just try to figure them out.

Respectfully submitted,

And kittens need to learn that lesson as well when climbing all over their people. Kitten claws hurt!
