Confused Americans for Truth - For Best Results, Try Not to Act Like a Terrorist

by Ferdinand T Cat

In the months following the 9/11 terror attack, there was a great deal of speculation on why no one raised a red flag about a bunch of guys who wanted to learn how to fly a plane, but didn't care about landing.

The answer is that we didn't realize we were living in a Tom Clancy novel. Now we know better, so when a guy applies for a hazardous materials transportation license and then asks to be taught how to drive a tractor forward, but not backward, what he's really doing is building a giant flashing neon ARREST ME sign on top of his head.

A part of me feels remorse at the dark cloud hanging over Muslims here in the United States. Clapping someone in irons because of suspicious behavior smacks of a police state. On the other hand, if this guy actually is a terrorist and we let him continue unmolested, we'd be treated to a new version of the Jersey Girls fiasco, with sobbing widows blaming the Bush Administration for dropping the ball.

So before the new Democratic Congress starts an investigation into Bush's assaults on our Fundamental Rights, let's not forget that you can't have it both ways. Either we haul in the occasional innocent to make sure we keep the terrorists off the streets, or we keep the police in check and risk the occasional mass murder.

It's an undeniable truth, but I have a sinking feeling it's not going to be getting very much press in the coming months.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
