Notes from Ferdy - In Which I Offer an Olive Branch

by Ferdinand T Cat

A few days ago, the Wall Street Journal reported on a move by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon to investigate corruption in the distribution of U.N. funds.

Now, I am no fan of the U.N., and I think the corruption is pretty deep and it will be difficult to yank it out. But, I would really like it if the U.N. cleaned up its act, so I am going to hope that Mr. Ban Ki Moon succeeds.

Now, I realize that I am a superior life form, so this sort of hope thing is not too hard for me to pull off, but I think it's something even humans can do. For example, the Democrats believe fairly strongly that the Iraq War is a lost cause. However, just like I think an honest U.N. would be a good thing, they must at some level believe that a peaceful, democratic Iraq would be a good thing.

So, here's my proposal: when Nancy Pelosi and her friends make the tour of the Sunday talk shows, they should drop into the conversation that they really hope the Troop Surge works. It would give a much-needed morale boost to the troops in Iraq, and Al-Qaeda may just decide that they need to re-think their strategy a bit.

I mean, we are all on the same side, right?

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
