Notes from Ferdy - My Predictions for 2006

The holiday is over, and Conservative Cat is back! As you know, this is the time of year when most news organizations start making their predictions for the next year. It is, of course, a silly process, because in a global economy, it's impossible to predict the next week, much less the next year. That's why I only predict the previous year. So here are my superior brain's predictions for 2006.

• Because of his central role in securing the sweeping Democratic victory in 2006, Barack Obama [D, IL] is the most qualified person for the 2008 Democratic Presidential nomination.
• The the execution of Saddam Hussein made no difference, because the problems in Iraq cannot be pinned on one single man.
• Nobody ever said a new direction for the Iraq War would involve redeployment of forces.
• Because of her central role in securing the sweeping Democratic victory in 2006, Hillary Clinton [D, NY] is the most qualified person for the 2008 Democratic Presidential nomination.
• The economy was in a steep decline all year, so tax increases couldn't possibly make things any worse.
• The source of our problems in Iraq is our inability to bring to justice one single man-- Osama bin Laden.
• Leaking information about the President is a vital exercise of free speech, but no one ever said it was okay to leak stuff about what's going on in Congress.
• The lack of hurricane activity in 2006 was predicted in Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth, which is currently only available in the unrated director's cut DVD edition.
• Because of his central role in securing the sweeping Democratic victory in 2006, Dennis Hastert [R, IL] is the most qualified person for the 2008 Democratic Presidential nomination.
