Notes from Ferdy - Is There Any Problem Iran Can't Solve?
Apparently, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is planning a big announcement on February 11. Among the topics planned are a herbal cure for AIDS and a great leap forward in the nuclear race.
The problem is that this is not Ahmadinejad's first announcement about an upcoming Big Day. Back in August he said great things would happen on August 22, and it pretty much fizzled. The new and different aspect is the herbal AIDS remedy. I have to be honest about this: when I see the word "herbal" in the name of a medical treatment, my brain reads it as unscientific. Maybe it works some times, and maybe it works all the time, but if it had been seriously tested by independent laboratories, it would cost 10 times as much and require a prescription.
I have a better idea, one that is a sure-fire winner and well within Iran's capabilities. Instead of securing a nuclear future, Ahmadinejad could simply stop selling weapons and equipment to the insurgents. Iraq would be free to develop a peaceful, democratic government, and Iran could use the money it saves to develop a real AIDS cure.
I know, I know, fat chance, but I can dream, can't I?
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

You'll have to remember, especially about Mag's headaches, that her medicine often had the effect of rendering her completely unconscious just to get rid of her pain. On the other hand, the peppermint aromatherapy (a completely natural, herbal remedy) cost a fraction of the prescription she was currently getting and allowed her to function. Not all herbal remedies are "unscientific".
