The Cat's Meow - 03/08/07: World Opinion
If a poll of 27 different countries concludes that the United States should jump in a lake, that doesn't mean it's a good idea.
About once a year, somebody does a world opinion poll in which the United States fares poorly. This one is from 2007, and this one is from 2006. Since 2003, the blame has been laid at the feet of our Iraq policy.
One can certainly understand why the world feels that way. We have an entire political party devoted to condemning what we're trying to do. It's as if Adolf Hitler, after years of blaming Germany's troubles on the Jews, sought to justify his anti-semitism on the fact that most Germans agreed with him.
Asking the world about Iraq is not going to tell us anything useful: the world has no reason to believe anything but what they're told. The people we need to understand are the terrorists, and the terrorists agree completely with the Democrats that the United States needs to pull out. Now, I want to be careful about the implications of what I'm saying. In the late 1930s, Charles Lindbergh felt that America should stay out of the war in Europe. There was nothing unpatriotic about his opinion, it was simply stupid.
And if there'd been a world opinion poll agreeing with him, it would not have changed the facts one bit.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

EXACTLY!! The "party" that does not want this war is creating a prolonged existence. sigh...
Like or dislike the President, who cares, but at least respect those who are dying for their freedom to talk trash and agree publically with terrorists.
