Confused Americans for Truth - Obama vs. Hillary: Issues, Please?
Okay people, enough is enough. Some time ago, the New York Times promised that the early start of the Presidential campaign would force candidates to focus on issues. I was happy about that. I figured that if we knew what the candidates wanted to do as President, it would give the American people a chance to vote for ideas instead of personalities. That's how a republic is supposed to work.
The problem is, it's not happening! Obama is running as a black guy, Hillary is running as a woman, Edwards is running as someone who's not gay, and the other candidates are completely off the radar.
This is completely insane, people. If we cut and run from Iraq, it won't matter whether the President of the United States is black, female, or sporting an effeminate hairdo. It will matter that we have some strategy in place to keep the terrorists from turning Iraq into a giant Al-Qaeda training camp!
And I'm sorry to have to be the one to say this, but talking to Iran is not a plan. We've been talking to Iran for years about its nuclear plans, and the effect has been negligible.
I understand that covering the story of the First African-American President or the First Woman President or the First President With Fashion Sense is a thrill, but that's not what America needs right now. America needs the First President With a Working Strategy For Fixing Iraq, and if that's not going to be George W. Bush, then by all that's holy I want some evidence that whoever follows him is up to the job!
I don't think I'm being unreasonable here.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat
