The Dimwit Zone - Senate Leader Reid Announces Pet Food Problem is Lost

by Ferdinand T Cat

Coming hard on the heels of news that melamine-laced food imports from China may have been fed to pigs intended for human consumption, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid [D-NV] has declared that the situation with tainted food imports is "lost", and "the sustained rate of contamination" is proof we can't hope to stop it.

"The Bush Administration has lost all credibility in this matter. The intelligence estimates which link the contaminated food to China is highly suspect. How can we be sure the FDA isn't merely telling the President what he wants to hear?"

Reid promised a full Senate investigation of the faulty intelligence that has resulted in an embargo on certain Chinese imports and massive product recalls. "There's simply no way we can fix this," Reid said. "Therefore, our first priority has to be holding the Bush Administration accountable."

Respectfully submitted,
